The Honest Trail Guide For Mere Mortals In The S2S

Realistic trail expectations for those who weren’t born & raised in the Sea to Sky

Hey shredders! I’m Helena, a British MTB coach based in Whistler, who has obsessively biked my way around the Whistler, Pemberton & Squamish area for the last 6 years. I give to you my favorite trail compilation with unique ratings so you can get more progression and more stoke out of your rides. YEET YEET!

When I first moved to the area, I was struck by how advanced the level of trails are here compared to what I’d ridden back home. The black trails especially, are a league above anything I’d ever experienced. But don’t get me wrong, with greater challenge, comes greater reward!
I had the idea to create a site that provides an ego-free guide to the trails that are worth your while so that you get max reward, spend less time walking down features you’re not ready for & more time progressing on some of the best trails in the world. It’s going to be most useful for riders looking to progress through blues into light blacks and harder blacks.

I’ve provided a more precise colour-coding system for the trail difficulty ratings because a hard black trail round here is a hell of a long way off from an easy blue. We’ve all found ourselves staring down a trail at some point wondering what the hell we’re doing there, having trusted the online rating.

You’ll also find suggested loops in each trail network , a brief description of individual trails, plus how to access them & some tips on how to ride certain sections better.

Please feel free to leave me a message at the bottom of this page with feedback about what you’d like to see more of!

Whistler
Cheakamus, West Side, Blackcomb & ‘Epic’ trails
You may have only heard about the bike park, but Whistler is also permeated with world-class trails in the forests surrounding its neighborhoods, not-to-mention the epic trails that take you right into the alpine, like Lord of The Squirrels.

Squamish

Diamondhead Trails & Alice Lake

No longer just a pitstop on the way to Whistler, Squamish has become a biking destination in its own right. There are several different areas to choose from, with Diamondhead & Alice Lake being most popular. It’s possible to ride in Squamish for the majority of the year, so bikers can almost always get their fix.

Pemberton
Mackenzie & Mosquito Lake
This area is a really good option in Spring and Fall, but gets suuuper loose in the height of summer. Choose your trails carefully or you’ll be inhaling dust clouds all the way down. But maybe that’s your thing…
